Having a car makes all the difference. The downside is that since I still work six days a week, we can never go more than two hours away, so we're running out of new places to see. Plus, I just started my online courses with UMA, so I'm going to be VERY busy from now on. In fact, I've got another hour of work to do now, coupled with a good two-three hours tomorrow.

But I was really pleased with our trip to Dakeshan. Even though those leeches were SO disgusting, it was worth it. Actually, they were nothing compared to the leeches I saw in Nepal, and in Nepal I had far more than one bite me. Did I tell you about the time I scratched my head in my tent at night only to find a nasty, blood-filled leech?

That is a crazy hiking story! I tried to tell it to Jessica on a walk we were having but I forgot many of the details like the leaches. I will have to have here read it to get the full effect.
That truly looks like a beautiful place, it is neat that you have found the opportunity to explore the way that you do.

You still have that video? I'd like to see it. We made that about 8 years ago, didn't we? I'd completely forgotten about Ken and his nips and briefs. That was great. I don't think I have a scar from that incident, but thanks for reminding me about it. I'll be sure to get in some fresh "What are the odds of that?" moments the next time we meet.

That bucket full of eels looks tasty, huh? Did you get mom and dad to try them? Ha ha.

Hey Andy, we just finished watching the Home Sweet Home video. That thing is hilarious and hideous all at the same time. I was incredibly annoying (the whole time), the flirting is just shameless and what the heck was I thinking with that horrendous facial hair of mine??? Ken is quite humorous to me, but most people don't understand (we watched it with Jessica's cousin Rachel) he can cause awkward moments the way that he is so obsessed with his own nips and red briefs. Then, we were so careless when you totally sliced up your back, all we did was laugh, I am sorry, that looked incredibly painful. Do you have a scar from that? I suppose you got your revenge any time you got to ask "What are the odds of that???".

Yeah that was pretty lucky timing when you called. That's too bad you'll have to work when Mom and Dad go to Oregon. Oregon's a beautiful place and I really wish I could come spend some time there too. In fact, when we were driving on the mountain roads of Taiwan, we remembered that time with the rental car in Oregon on the old fire roads, with you out chucking rocks out of the way.

Scroggins made the trip without any more "accidents." He's turning into a great car dog, actually. And he made friends with Mom, since he had to sit in the back seat most of the trip.

It was neat to talk to you guys while you were still on your trip. It sounds like a ton of fun, not to mention that is a huge part of Taiwan that you guys got to see. When the 'rents come to visit us, there will be nothing half as exciting as that going on. We will probably surf once, but I have to work the whole time they are here.
Did scroggins make it the whole trip without any more accidents?

Mulkern! Glad to see you haven't fallen into a black hole. Scroggins is just a mutt. We picked him up from an animal shelter, and they found him living on the street as a puppy. Still, he's a great dog.

Of course I remember Joseph Mckee. That's great that you mentioned it, because actually that's exactly what I thought about when it happened. But instead of puked up donuts, I had to clean up a nasty mixture of dog food, rice and vegetables.

I didn't know you and the 'rents had gone hiking in Washington, that sounds sweet. Don't you think it's disgusting that resorts can take over natural hot springs?

Actually, this river reminded me a lot of the rivers in the White Mountains. Rock hopping brought back a lot of great memories.

Some sad news about Scroggins, though. He ran away yesterday because some fireworks spooked him. We're putting up signs and looking everywhere, but no luck yet. I just hope we can find him before Mom and Dad come and we leave for six days.

What an awesome place! That river reminds me of a cross between Oregon and Maine rivers.
It is too bad that the resorts took over the hot-springs, it was like that when we went to Washington with the 'rents, we wanted to go to some hotsprings and you had to pay to go in all the good ones. We thought we would beat the system and go hike to some other ones, we did, but the turned out to be smelly and there was a warning that you could get an illness if you went in. so we ended up hiking five+ miles for nothing.

That is hilarious about Scroggins in the car. do you remember Joseph Mckee long ago in the car. Ha Ha.
